The Munster Cyclocross league is back. After a very successful first 2 seasons sponsored by Verge
and the Support Your Local Bike Shop group, we are delighted to announce that Cycling Munster are
sponsoring the 2018 Munster CX league with Verge Sports once again providing the leaders Jerseys.
The league will once again consist of 7 races, starting in September and continuing into the first
week of December. On top of that there will be 3 non-league races to boost the calendar and bring
racing right up to the National Championships which we are delighted to say will be hosted by De
Ronde van Cork CC on the 13th January!
Killarney and St. Finbarrs host the first 2 rounds on the 16th and 23rd of September with both races
taking place in new venues this season. Next up is BRT who host round 3 in Lees Road, Ennis,
followed by Revolution CC Mallow hosting Round 4 in the town park. November sees the first nonleague
race hosted by Sliabh Luachra on the 3rd, with the league returning the following week in
Cork with DRvCCC playing host to round 5 in Tramore Valley Park. Upperchurch Drombane and
Clonmel CC play host to the final 2 rounds on the 25th November and the 9th December respectively
where the stakes will be high, and where the league could be won or lost. As well as that, while the
final round in Clonmel is sure to provide drama for the league, it also plays host to the Munster
Championships where medals will be on the line.
Where there has been a gap in racing in Munster in previous seasons, Over the Hill CC and Youghal
CC have stepped up to the plate by hosting 2 non-league races on the 16th of December and the 6th
of January. Although not part of the league they will play a big part in preparations for a “home”
National Championships on the 13th of January.
Full details of races will be available on www.munstercx.com and the Munster CX Facebook page, as
well as all the host clubs’ websites and social media.
